I hope it'll save you thousands of dollars and months of time.Erm, no offense, but it reads like you cannot use Sketchup correctly. Here's a little booklet I wrote about Tiny House Mistakes. But for THOW? F'in Useless waste of time.Here. Because it's a general surface modeler it doesn't understand materials, walls or solids. It's not as simple and straightforward as tools designed with an intent to design habitable structures. Yes it can be done - but it's very tedious to be 100% accurate. IMO it's not designed to do precision modeling. I do understand how SketchUp works. Create your own components - it is simple enough and often quicker than searching for a bespoke item on Warehouse.Depends upon what your needs are. To be fair it's been 1-2 years since I last tinkered with SketchUp - but can't imagine that it adopted solid modeling features. As long as you draw in 1:1 scale then you can measure what space you have for a fixture or fitting, then fit accordingly. In terms of cabinetry and doors etc. There's a whole lot of other things it doesn't do (track estimated costs, material needs, etc). Something as complex as a tiny home (which in the scheme of Architectural projects is not actually complex at all) should have a lot of careful thought put into it.You missed the point. Making a prefab bookshelf narrower for a custom fit isn't exactly difficult. This is the wrong view. However you could use IKEA cabinetry models and slice and dice some pieces to get a custom fit. Appliances are not scalable either. Building codes are going to vary WRT tiny houses - things like doors & lavatories come in specific sizes because of that. To minimize cost - one wants to limit the amount of custom items. I model the schemes up in 3D, set up specific scenes and details and export 2D drawings into CAD and that is my job almost done.Because it's a general surface modeler it doesn't understand materials, walls or solids. It is perfectly suitable for precision modelling, and not tedious at all to be 100% accurate. Yes it can be done - but it's very tedious to be 100% accurate.I work in Architecture producing high end bespoke dwellings, hotels and offices and have done so for the past 10 years.
